elizabeth_web  Elizabeth Modiegi Dhlamini-Kumalo

IPM Diploma, Post graduate Diploma in Management, Masters in Management (Wits). Elizabeth is the Chairperson of the SABPP. She is registered with the SABPP as a Master HR Practitioner and has served the Board as a Mentor for many years. She also chairs the ad hoc Disciplinary Committees of the Board. Elizabeth worked at Anglo up to the level of Personnel Officer and then joined the Nedcor Group as a Human Resources Manager. She left Nedcor as Senior Manager of the Organisational Transformation Unit, joined Fedics Food Services as the Human Resources Director and left Fedics to gain Parastatal experience as Human Resources Director of the South African National Parks. She later joined Woolworths as HR Director, and then African Oxygen Limited as HR Director. Elizabeth has just been appointed by Sandvik Group SA as HR Director. Today Elizabeth is the HR Director, Sandvik Southern Africa, as well as Vice President Region Africa of Sandvik Mining and Construction.

michaelglensor  Michael Glensor


Master of Business Leadership (MBL), SBL Unisa 2004. PhD handed in. Michael is the Deputy Chair of the SABPP. He registered with SABPP in 1995 as a Mentee on Mentoring programme; registered as HR Practitioner in 1998; registered as Chartered HR Practitioner in 2002; registered as Mentor in 2002; registered as Master HR Practitioner in 2005; became a Board member of the 9th SABPP Board and Chairperson of the Professional Registration committee and elected as Deputy Chairperson in August 2008. Michael is a Founder Member of the SA Ethics Institute, a member of the IPM as well as the International Association of Business Leaders, Institute of Directors, Society for Human Resource Management and the Academy of Management. He is currently the HR Manager at Liviero Civils and has previously been Principle Consultant – Manage People – EMEA – Rio Tinto, HR Lead Consultant – Deloitte Consulting, Group HR Manager among others.

jeangrundling  Jean Grundling

Jean holds a Master of Adult Education (MPhil) degree and plans to complete a PhD thesis at the end of 2010.  Jean is registered as a Chartered HR Practitioner (ETD) with the South African Board for Personnel Practitioners (SABPP). She has been registered with the SABPP since 1996.  She is the Chairperson of the CPD Standing Committee, responsible for the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) process of the SABPP. Jean is currently an Independent Consultant.  For the past five and a half years she worked as a manager and consultant for PricewaterhouseCoopers.  She was part of the People and Change Team.  She has considerable operational and strategic human resources experience in the private and public sector and has consulting experience in a range of human capital solutions, namely Learning, Communication and Change Management, Talent Management and Research solutions.  Jean had been involved in higher education for a number of years.  During these years she lectured in Management Leadership and Training Management and facilitated continuing professional learning (CPL) programmes.  In her capacity as Executive Assistant at a higher education institution, she gained extensive experience in the management, administration and transformation of higher education institutions.

karenhinrichs  Karen Hinrichs

MA Psychology (Pietermaritzburg). Karen is a current Board member and has been registered with the SABPP, since 1991, as a Master HRP (HRD/ETD).  A registered Industrial Psychologist, Karen has worked independently (for the last 13 years) as a learning and development practitioner, in the process, cultivating subject matter expertise across the entire spectrum of human resource development including quality assurance of education and training, curriculum design and development, skills development facilitation, the practical application of relevant legislation (and regulations), the structures and the roles and responsibilities to implement the NQF and lecturing and external examining/moderation. As a member of the SABPP ETQA Team, Karen is involved in all aspects of delivering on the ETQA's statutory mandate from accreditation or learning programme approval of HR Providers to the monitoring and verification of HR Learnerships. She is a Mentor of the SABPP as well as a member of the ETQA Committee.

mariusmeyer  Marius Herman Meyer

Marius lectures in HRD at the University of Johannesburg and consults for Lemar Consulting and ROI Online. He has been an HRD practitioner, consultant and academic for the last 15 years. Marius is registered as a Master HR Practitioner and Mentor with SABPP and member of both the CPD and HRD committees of the Board. He has been nominated by the SABPP to take over the leadership of the research body of the SABPP (the HRRI) and has been working alongside the current Chair for some time. He is chairman of the HRD Universities Forum and advisory board member and head of research for ASTD Global Network South Africa. He is a regular speaker at local and international conferences and author of several articles and books, as well as editor and reviewer for the SA Journal of Human Resource Management. Marius received presidential awards from the IPM in 2007 and 2008 and chairs the IPM Awards Committee. In addition, he served on the ASTD ROI committee and ASTD Awards committee (USA). Marius has just prepared a paper on the HR implications of King III for the Board.

jerrymolefe  Jerremiah Diratsagae Molefe

Bcom Honours Degree in Industrial and Organisational Psychology from the University of Johannesburg, a BTech degree in Human Resources Management from Unisa, a Diploma in Personnel Management from the Institute of People Management (IPM), as well as a Leadership Development Programme from WBS. He is currently completing his MBA with MANCOSA. Jerry Molefe is in a position of HR Executive at Werksmans Incorporating Jan S De Villiers, a leading Corporate and Commercial Law Firm is SA and a CRF Top Ten Best Employer in 2008/09. Jerry is a Chartered HR Practitioner - Generalist with the SABPP and serves on the registration sub-committee and is a mentor at the SABPP. He is also a Board member of the IPM. He has extensive experience in HR and has written articles published in some of the leading HR publications and addressed a number of conferences on HR strategy and on Transforming HR into a strategic partner. He has recently developed and designed a model on the alignment of HR and Business strategies.

gettysimelane  Getty Simelane

BA (Social Work) Unizul; HDPMWits Business School; MPhil, Bath University, UK and EDP from North Western University,US. Getty is registered as a Chartered Human Resources Practitioner and mentor of the SABPP. To date she has held Human Resources Senior/Director level positions in various industries including telecommunications, manufacturing, industrial chemicals, FMCG and investment banking. Getty currently holds the position of Human Resources Director at Deutsche Bank, South Africa. She is a past Member of the Management Board in the Office of the Auditor General, currently a Board member of the SABPP and NED and Chairperson of the Board for City Power, the electricity entity owned by the City of Johannesburg. In pursuit of a passion in youth development she serves on the Management Board of Bridgman Youth Centre in Soweto and director of St Mungos Diepsloot Social Action Company [section 21 company].

mariettavanrooyen  Mariétta van Rooyen

B.Ed. Mariétta is a Board Member of the SABPP and chairs the HRD Committee of the Board. She is registered as a Chartered HRD Practitioner and has been a Mentor of the Board for many years.  Mariétta has worked tirelessly for the improvement of our system as a whole. She is founder and past Board Member of the ETDP SETA Authority; Founder member and past Board member of the Association of Private Providers for Education, Training and Development (APPETD) – also previous chair and vice-chair of APPETD; Second and third-term member of the SAQA Board, and past chair of its ETQA Subcommittee and Appeals Committee. As senior educational advisor she provided alternate access for black technical staff in ESKOM, circumventing the biased psychological testing of the time, and mentored black learner technicians to cope with pressures in a rightwing working environment in various power stations. As member of the Association for Private Providers she worked for a fair dispensation for private providers of education.

sunettevdwalt  Dr Sunette van der Walt

B.Com Hons (cum lauda) M.Com, D Com. Sunette is currently a member of the Board and served the Board as Chair of the Finances Committee on the previous Board and Deputy Chair before that and has been registered with the Board since 1985. As a member of the ETQA Team she oversees accreditation and verification for the SABPP ETQA. She is also a member of the ETQA Committee of the Board and a registered HR assessor and moderator. She is a registered Industrial Psychologist, Managing Director of Sunette vd Walt and Associates and previously Executive Director: Group for HR of the HSRC. She was also Associate Professor, Head of the Dept of Industrial Psychology and Deputy Dean.

petahorn  Peta Jacqueline Horn

Bachelor Social Science Degree, OD ETD NQF5. Peta is the owner of Virago Consulting cc. She has been registered with the SABPP as an HR Practitioner Generalist since 2005. Peta participates in the work of the Learning and Development Committee of the Board and her involvement has grown since then. She also assists with moderations and verifications on behalf of SABPP.

tendaniramulifho  Tendani Victoria Ramulifho

Degree in HR Management and Honours degree in HR Development. Tendani is a current Board member on the SABPP Board and was responsible for marketing the SABPP in the Public Sector. She is registered as an HR Practitioner. Tendani is a Senior Officer Practitioner under Human Resource Management in the Department of Economic Development Environment and Tourism in Vhembe District Limpopo. She is further a Consultant specialising in Performance Management systems, evaluation, assessment, training and development. As a woman coming from a disadvantaged community, she sees herself playing a vital role in improving the lives of the disadvantaged and underprivileged people by using work experience, research and academic knowledge of HR Management and HR Development, which can be utilised in an effective and professional environment. She would like to explore her work within the department and to be involved in building transformation and democracy.

khosana  Khosana Tladi

Masters Degree in Governance and Political Transformation (UOFS). Khosana is registered with the SABPP as an HR Practitioner. His current position is Director: Transformation, Employment Equity and Diversity at Tshwane University of Technology. His work entails amongst others, providing strategic leadership on issues of transformation, employment equity and diversity, ensuring integration of transformational leadership and employment equity into human resources policies and practices. He also provides support and advice to the Executive Management Committee and Council of the institution on matters related to transformation.

palesa_tyobeka_photo  Palesa Tyobeka

Palesa Tyobeka is the Deputy Director-General:  Teachers, Education Human Resources and Institutional Development and was among the first to be appointed to the National Department of Education after the advent of democracy in 1994.  She has served in key positions and is currently heading a critical branch focusing on teacher capacity, development and conditions of service.  Mrs Tyobeka trained as a teacher at the University of Fort Hare where she majored in English and psychology.  After teaching for several years she moved to the South African Institute of Race Relations-Education Information Centre.  In 1983 she joined the English Advisory Services, which she headed between 1987 and 1994 before she moved to the National Education Department.  Palesa holds a master's degree in the teaching of English from the Centre for Applied Language Studies at Reading University in the United Kingdom; a diploma in the teaching of English as a second language from the London Institute of Education, specialising in materials development; a BEd from Unisa and a host of certificates, including a certificate in public administration from the University of Pretoria.

linda_chipunza_photo   Dr Linda Chipunza

Dr Chipunza is the head of the centralized Learnership office for FNB.  She started off as a teacher in a number of secondary schools, teaching English and history.  From there she was appointed to teach in a number of Teacher training and vocational colleges.  Linda then joined the University of Zimbabwe where she taught applied linguistics and communication skills in a number of faculties ie Science, Engineering, Commerce, Social studies and Law.  This was with a view to preparing university students for the world of work.  She was then appointed as a Director of the Teaching and learning services at the same university, a position she held until her translocation to South Africa in 2004.  In South Africa, Linda joined FNB as the Registrar of Learning responsible for the curriculum.  From there she became head of consumer education for Branch Banking and was then invited by the Shared Services division to start a learnership unit.  Linda currently works in Strategic HR where she is the head of the centralized Learnership office to FNB.

Dr Phasoane Mokgobu is the Senior Manager Employee Relations, Human Resources in Armscor.  He joined Armscor in 1996.  Dr Phasoane Mokgobu has also worked as Public Relations Officer, Business Development Manager, in a variety of industries ranging from ICT, Defence Industry, Financial Services and Retail and has also lectured Politics and Governance, Political Science and Masters Programme in Political Policy at both Tshwane University of Technology and University of Pretoria.  Phasoane is a Master HR Practitioner and HR Mentor of the South African Board for People Practices (SABPP).  He is also an assessor and moderator.   He is currently the Chairman of the Institute of People Management (IPM) in Pretoria, and also serves on the IPM Board and South Africa Institute for International Affairs, Pretoria.

Prof Akinnusi is the Research Coordinator and Professor at the Graduate School of Business and Government Leadership at the North West University, Mafikeng Campus.  Prof Akinnusi is registered with the SABPP as a Master HR Practitioner.  He has 30 years of university teaching experience, taught at the Universities of Lagos, Swaziland, Fort Hare, University of Venda and now at the North West University in human resources management, industrial relations, organizational behaviour, organizational development and research modules at undergradute and graduate levels.  He has vigorously undertaken executive development programmes and has created many professional and capacity building programmes.  David has supervised more than two hundred research projects at Honours level, MBA dissertations, Masters (7) and PhDs (2).

Mike Honnet was registered as a Chartered HR Practitioner in the Generalist Category in 2004.  He has been a registered Mentor since December 2006; has served on the CPD Committee since 2007; and currently chairs the Course Approvals sub-committee.  Mike is an HR consultant specialising in performance and reward.  He has been involved in consulting since 1982 and now runs an independent practice, Mike Honnet Consulting (Pty) Limited.  This was founded in 2005 and serves clients in the public and private sectors throughout South Africa.
