Rating Procedure
The following CPD approved course rating procedure will be applied in conjunction with the associated roles listed below:
Evaluators
In rating the CPD value of a learning programme the SABPP
- CPD Approved Course Sub-committee shall ensure that evaluators invited to participate
- Are Mentors of the Board and who are generalist HR subject matter expertshave signed an agreedment to keep the contents of learning events and programmes confidential and not make use of the knowledge so gained for their own advantage
Application process
Applicants shallÂ
- Submit a letter of intent stating the title(s) and contents of the learning programme(s) to be submitted for rating
- Receive, from the Board, a letter of confirmation to proceed, together with an invoice
- Submit the required details of the learning programme(s) to the Board (for the attention of the CPD Approved Courses Sub-committee), together with proof of payment
Submission of learning programme information
Applicants shall submit the following information for each learning event or programme for which a CPD approved rating is sought, at least 6 weeks prior to commencement of the event:
The evaluation process will comprise the following steps:
Step 1: Analysing the information provided by the applicant to determine the validity of the event for CPD purposes
Step 2: Determining the number of CPD points warranted
Step 3: Assessing the level of the event against the SABPP registration levels and NQF levels
Step 4: Allocating a renewal score
Ratings will normally be available within 21 days of receipt of the application by SABPP (or longer by agreement) and be transmitted electronically to the applicant.Ratings shall be posted on the Board’s website for a maximum period of 12 months or other agreed period and shall contain the following information:
- Title: the title of the event or programmeAbstract: a description of the purpose (or outcome) and contents of the programme (not exceeding 200 words).
- Scope: a description of the programme showing the subject matter to be covered; the presenter(s) and/or learning activities. Where possible these should be accompanied by abbreviated CV(s) of the presenter(s).
- Duration: duration of the programme in hours. Where the event exceeds three days (or 24 hours) additional information is required describing the NQF unit standards linked to the events should be provided.
- Assessment: the forms of assessment to be applied to learners to measure learning; together with examples.
- Certification: a description and example of the proof provided to the learner of participation in the programme.
- Cost: the fee and other cost(s) of attending the programme.
