SABPP OperationsThe SABPP is committed to provide quality service in the professional and quality assurance arenas of HR in South Africa.
As both the statutory quality assurance body (ETQA) for Human Resources in South African and the Professional registering body for HR, the SABPP is raising the standards and stature of human resources in South Africa through
- evaluation and registration of individual HR practitioners
- evaluation, site visits and re-accreditation of tertiary institutions with HR programmes
- a continued professional development standard
- a code of conduct and disciplinary procedures
- obtaining personal commitments to professionalism and ethicsaccrediting HR providers
- registering HR Assessors and Moderators
The SABPP has established

- professional conduct and
- a responsible work ethic
Professional registration
This includes assistance with application, evaluation of application, advising of results, issuing of certificate, advising on accredited courses, advising on special dispensation and recognition of prior learning issues and informing of new development in registration issues.
Mentor status
Senior members of the profession, registered with the Board can be invited by the Board or nominated by peers (colleagues at senior level) to Mentorship status.
An individual may also apply for Mentor status, but the onus will be on the aspiring Mentor to prove peer recognition at senior level.
Achievement award for best HR students
This is an annual award offered by the Board to those students nominated by accredited tertiary institutions.
Annual General Meeting
called "SABPP HR Review".
An Annual Report
and a bi-monthly electronic newsletter called "Across the Board" sent through the email Forum of the Board.
Taking initiatives to strengthen and defend the HR profession
Such as:
- Lobbying for recognition of HR practitioners· Reviewing professional registration levels;
- Generating new unit standards for HR;
- Maintaining accreditation as an HR ETQA;
- Initiating practical HR research through the SABPP HR Research Initiative (HRRI);
- Publishing Board Papers, case studies and other research;
- Reviewing the Code of Conduct;
- Compiling a guide to the Code of Conduct;
- Informing students, the public and commerce about the work of the SABPP.
